Ujarras Church ruins The ruins of the Ujarras church are kept in excellet shape and sorrounded by beautiful gardens and public areas that many Costa Ricans use for their weekend country outing and picnic.

The church was build in 1693 during spanish colonial times, and its full name at the time was "Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Limpia Concepcion".

Leyend tells us that a painting of the virgin was found by a Huetar indian and brought to this place. From that day on, the painting would refuse to move to any other place so a church was build for it at that spot.
